Want to know what’s involved in the Dorset Plane Pull?
It’s quite simple really – although by no means a small feat. The Dorset Plane Pull is hosted at Bournemouth Airport on Monday 26th August 2019.
The event sees teams of 20 individuals take up the challenge to pull a mighty Boeing 737 commercial airliner weighing 35,000kg a distance of 50 meters in the fastest time. It is a unique team building and morale boosting activity for groups as it requires participants to come together as a team to achieve this daunting task!
Although most teams compete just for fun, the aim is to win the prize for the fastest pull over the 50-meter distance and raise vital funds for Amelia’s Rainbow at the same time.
And just in case that wasn’t enough, food, drink, live entertainment, stalls and activities for younger visitors are on site to keep both our pullers and spectators entertained throughout the day – we like to make sure that the Dorset Plane Pull is a great day out for everyone involved.

The total cost of a team plane pull space is £330. This works out at just £16.50 per person (20 x £16.50) or your company/club may be happy to sponsor your teams entrance fee in return for some fantastic team building!
We ask our teams to set their fundraising goal at a minimum of £1,000 which is just £50 per person.
In order to reserve your team space an initial payment of £130 is required (£80 of which is non refundable in case of cancellation by you and to protect the funds that we have raised), the balance payment of £200 is required by 26 July 2019.
Spaces are sold by the Dorset Plane Pull on a first come basis so if you would like to enter a team for Amelia’s Rainbow then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Teams consist of 20 pullers who are over 14 years of age. Any puller between the age of 14 and 18 will require their waiver to be signed by a legal guardian. Teams may consist of less pullers but the cost per team remains the same.
All pullers will be required to complete a waiver and produce current photographic ID on the day. Any puller who does not have a correct form of ID will be turned away and will not be permitted to pull.
Full details of the event will be forwarded to the team captain for circulation to your team(s) as and when we have it available. You must ensure that this information is seen by all of the team members as procedures therein will be strictly applied on the day.
Fundraising as a team can seem daunting but it needn’t be. Natalie our charity fundraiser will be on hand to help and support you with all of your fundraising efforts including creating a team online page and example email templates etc… we are also there on the day to support you!
Here are our top tips to help get you going.
- Set a team fundraising target, you will raise more with one!
- Online fundraising page; the team captain can set up one Virgin Giving fundraising page for the entire team to use so that all of your teams online fundraising is centralised. Traditional paper sponsorship forms can also be handed to each plane pull team member so that face to face sponsorship can also be raised.
- Get your social hustle on, both on and offline! Send emails, texts, create Facebook and Twitter posts sharing what you are doing and more importantly why you are doing it.
